Why do I have to ground?
Particular care is required when collecting flammable liquids. Static charges can occur when draining, which causes sparks and increases the risk of fire. SymLine® built-in solutions made of electrically conductive plastics prevent static charging and can be secured using additional grounding connections.
There are a number of guidelines and regulations for the assessment and avoidance of ignition hazards and the protective measures to be taken. The primary rules for safety and health at work (BGR) of the main association of commercial trade associations are to be observed: BGR 132 – “Static Electricity” guideline. In terms of content, this largely corresponds to the international standard CENELEC 50404 and the new Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS) TRGS 727 (formerly TRBS 2153) - avoidance of ignition hazards due to electrostatic charges. Electrically conductive plastics that have a spec. Resistance > 104 Ohm & < 109 Ohm can be used in protective systems subject to the ATEX directive provided they are adequately earthed.
