Liquid Level Control
Safe Level Monitoring: Sensors, Floaters, Alarms
There are different methods of level control that can be used depending on the application and the materials to be measured. At SCAT we distinguish between a mechanical level control and an electronic level control or monitoring:
Mechanical level control using a floater: This method uses a floater that floats on the surface of the liquid level. If the float rises or falls, this is used as an indicator of the level. The fill level is displayed visually and is easy to read. The float or buoyancy body is available in different lengths from 91.5 mm to 190 mm. It is always important to determine the connection of the container / canister, i.e. it is an S60/61, S65, GL45, Tri-Sure - thread etc.: there are many possibilities.
You can attach a signal cable to the floater and can then attach this signal cable to a signal transmitter so that you get an optical or acoustic signal when the level is reached.
Electronic level control through capacitive level measurement: This method uses sensors similar to electrodes that are built into the container. The level can be determined by changing the capacitance between the sensors and the medium. Our sensors can be attached to a container, such as a canister and/or glass bottle, e.g. using a Velcro strap. Both the fill level and the empty level can be measured. The level of filling or vacancy is defined individually by the user. Use a signal cable to connect the sensor to a signal transmitter such as our signal lamp 108334 or built-in signal box 106548 or signal box T5 108088.
A capacitive fill level measurement is also carried out using our capacitive rod sensor 108303. Here the sensor is not attached to the outside of the container, but inside the container.
Avoid empty Reservoirs - especially in HPLC
Low fill levels in reservoirs can cause various problems. Insufficient amount of solvent leads to interruptions in the analytical process as there is not enough liquid to process the required samples. This can cause inaccurate results and errors. There is also a risk of air bubbles getting into the HPLC components, affecting separation performance and reducing column life. SCAT fill level controls alert you to low fill levels in good time and enable timely refilling.
Avoid Overflow - increase Safety!
Excessive filling levels in collection containers lead to safety problems and environmental pollution. If the waste container is overfilled, there is a risk of leakage or spillage. In addition, an overfilled collection container can affect the operation of the HPLC system by impeding the flow on the "waste" side. With our level controls, you can safely monitor the level and trigger automatic alarms when a certain level is reached. Integrated interfaces allow you to control pumps or other devices, for example, to activate automatic drainage.
